There are many popular child artists in India who we love to watch on screen. In recent times, child artists in Bollywood such as Harshaali Malhotra, Sara Arjun, etc are highly paid and have been part of super hit films

Even in South Indian and regional films, there are many child artists who are doing a great job. However, did you know that some of the popular actors in Tamil cinema today had started off as child artists too? Read on to know about some such popular Tamil actors.

Nazriya Nazim

She made a place for herself in our hearts with movies like Vaayai Moodi Pesavum, Neram and Raja Rani. Her bubbly screen presence and her pretty face took her to the top league instantly in the Tamil film industry. In fact, even her Malayalam films such as Bangalore Days and Ohm Shanti Oshaana are quite popular among the Tamil audience. She was a child artist and started her career at the tender age of 11. She had also played host to some TV shows prior to that.

Manjima Mohan

We know Manjima Mohan as the actress in Achcham Enbadhu Madamayada and other Tamil movies. She is an upcoming actress who has made a mark with an impressive set of films till now in Tamil and Malayalam. However, the beginning of her career was when she acted as a child artist in Malayalam films like Priyam and Madhuranombarakkaattu.

Nithya Menen

Who cannot be a fan of Tara from OK Kanmani? Nithya Menen has played many memorable roles in Tamil films and is an established actress in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. She was last seen in Tamil when she starred opposite Vijay in Mersal. She is known to be a powerhouse of talent. It is interesting to note that she too has acted as a child in the English film The Monkey Who Knew Too Much as Tabu’s younger sister.

Sanusha

We know Sanusha for her roles in Tamil movies such as Alex Pandian, Renigunta, etc. Her girl-next-door looks and her acting have made her a memorable face in the minds of Tamil audiences. She made her debut in films as a child artist in Malayalam films such as Kallukondoru Pennu. She was also known as ‘Baby Sanusha’ at that time.

Chakri Toleti

Chakri Toleti is a known director in the Tamil film industry today and he has films like Unnaipol Oruvan and Billa 2 to his credit. However, he had acted as a child artist in the classic film Salangai Oli that had Kamal Hassan in the lead. He played a small but impactful role in the super hit film.

However, the starting of her acting career was as a child artist in Hindi movies. She famously starred in Koi…Mil Gaya that had Hrithik Roshan in the lead.

Nivetha Thomas

Nivetha Thomas gave a memorable performance in Papanasam as Kamal Hassan’s daughter. From there, she has gone on to play many good roles in Tamil and Telugu movies as well. But, before all that, she had starred as a child artist in Tamil and Malayalam movies. She appeared as a child artist in Vijay’s Kuruvi as well.
