Life is not always smooth sailing. It definitely throws in difficulties at us at different points in time. There are days when you may feel out of balance, out of control, and certainly less than confident. Times of sorrow, stress, failure, and apprehension may make you believe that your life is falling apart. But it is you who has to ultimately hold all the pieces of your life together.

So how do you deal with it?

One way of coming to grips with life is by gaining confidence and in turn courage to face whatever that life throws at you through our own appearance. I know it seems weird but think about how your style and the clothes you choose, reflect and affect your mood, your health, and your overall confidence.

Did you know that grooming and overall appearance constitute the first levels of information about ourselves that we offer to anyone observing us! It might not be the most important information but it is the first, which makes it worthy of effort and attention.

Finding the right style, colors and textures that enhance your natural assets can do wonders for your self-esteem. Just by putting on a bright lipstick, fancy shoes or stylish accessories, you can instantly uplift your mood! Doing so, generates positive vibes which reflect in your general well being.

Donning your favourite outfit gives you an instant sense of comfort, style and elegance thereby giving you the courage to face the world despite the direst circumstances. At such times, look at yourself in the mirror, smile and remind yourself of something you are really proud of.

Assembling an outfit is like selecting a social armor. A stylish outfit reflects a successful personality. It gives confidence and projects authority. Why else do we have clichés like the Lady in Red or eternal classy outfits like The Little Black Dress. A power outfit projects the image of someone who is undaunted and brave enough to overcome any challenge thrown their way.

Even when you are down in the dumps, it is so important to “Get up, get dressed, and never give up each day.” To feel more beautiful, confident, and strong, you must change out of the yoga pants and put on clothes that make you feel powerful. The moment we step out wearing something that shows the dignity that we have for ourselves, the people around us will start looking at us in a different light. They will notice the confidence and their response to us will change accordingly.

For women, it may involve high heels, a little black dress, and designer perfume. However, the difficulties of life are not just limited to women. Men do have their ups and downs. For men, their self-confdence can be enhanced with a freshly shaved face, a new suit, and a nice smelling aftershave.

Nowadays Image, Style, and Branding consultants are highly sought after. Having an expert put together the perfect look for you can be exactly the extra edge that you need. Doing so can build pride and confidence and establish your uniqueness. Studies have found that people who make themselves smile will end up feeling happier.

When people notice the effort you have put into your appearance, you are sure to get compliments. Don’t take these compliments lightly; these are encouraging gestures to help you continue putting effort in your appearance.

The vicious circle of the taking care of yourself and then feeding your self-love is not a bane any more but a boon providing means to exhibit an image of power and self-respect. Personal style has thus become a powerful tool to cultivate self-care and resonate your self-respect.

At the end of the day, we all want to be happy and be seen as successful individuals who have their life in order. Though this may not always be the case, sometimes a little external confidence can be exactly what we need. Not only are we what we wear, but we become what we wear.
