Araku valley is a famous getaway 120 km away from Vishakhapatnam (Vizag). It's a very famous hill station in Andhra Pradesh close to Odisha state border.

The Anantagiri and Sunkarimetta reserved forests which are part of Araku valley is famous for its rich biodiversity and is rich in bauxite ore. The Galikonda hills rising a height of 1500 meters is amongst the highest peaks in Andhra Pradesh.

Located in the Eastern Ghats, it’s famous for its scenic beauty. Spread over the Araku valley is the very less known coffee estate of our Eastern Ghats, which was first started by the Britishers in Pamuleru valley.

This valley is well adorned by waterfalls and streams flowing by the sides of the roads and railways track. This valley is well connected through rail and road to Vishakhapatnam. The journey on the train is pretty interesting, as the train passes through tunnels and hillsides and water streams. Travelers suggest to go to Araku by train and return by road.

The beauty of the place resides in it's beautiful coffee plantations and the mist surrounding the air. For people in Vizag, Araku is like a weekend destination. People prefer the place as it's completely untouched by commercialization and it is easy to reach.

Anyone visiting Vizag, the coastal city of Andhra Pradesh, should not miss visiting Araku valley. The calming greenery, sounds of waterfall, caves and local people selling home grown organic coffee makes it worth for a visit.

The road leading to the valley is full of hairpin bends, serpentine hill roads, villages and open fields. The water cascading from the rocks makes it a sight which remains engraved in everyone's mind. For the visitors and tourists, one can do away with the sightseeing in a couple of hours. SRI MAHALINGESHWARA SWAMY

This is a temple dedicated to the local deity who is believed to have rescued all fishes from a fight between them and snakes, and came to this village of Matyagundam.

COFFEE PLANTATIONS

This is the first attraction which catches the attention of the tourists. The tall tree providing shade for smaller shrubs of coffee and the beautiful hanging coffee beans.

SANGDA WATERFALLS

Located near village of Sangda, the fall gets its name from the village.

PADMAPURAM GARDEN

The tree top cottages located in the middle of the green surroundings makes it a main tourist attraction. In the tree huts or hanging cottages, one can feel the rare swing of the trees in the breeze.

TYDA – An ecotourism project

It's located 75 kms from Vizag. This is the right place for trekking, bird watching, rock climbing and more.

BORRA CAVES

The caves are a natural wonder and are just few kilometers away. You can experience unbelievable height and depth at the same time near these caves.

BHEEMUNIPATNAM BEACH

Located nearby Araku at the start of the river Gosthani, this beach is a treat to the eyes with coconut trees, emerald beach and some ruins of Portuguese history.

With so many attractions one has to pay a visit atleast once to believe the charm that the place holds.
