Sendra Island and Loktak Lake

Manipur Zoological Gardens

If you are accompanying children, then this zoo garden is well worth a visit. Situated approximately 8 kilometres from the city, the zoological garden is known as the “Jewel of the State”. It has a mix of more than 400 species of animals and birds and is set in thick forests and hilly terrain.

Kwairamband Bazaar or IMA Market

This important market in Imphal is an interesting shopping destination for tourists and is said to have historical origins. This market symbolizes women empowerment as it is run solely by women. Shopping enthusiasts can buy handicrafts, black rice, blue lotus flowers, woollen shawls, local spices, dry fish and much more. Only, remember to bargain smartly to get the best price.

Manipur State Museum

This museum inaugurated in 1969 by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi has a collection of traditional state costumes, important historical documents, weaponry, sculptures and several other artefacts that interest those who love history and visiting museums.

Imphal Valley
