Indian children are known for their intelligence and their natural gravitation towards knowledge. Let us take a look at some female child prodigies who have amazed the world with their exceptional talents!
Born in a family of agricultural workers in Telengana, Malavath Poorna’s journey has been far from easy. But, her winning spirit and her enthusiasm for life is what sets her apart from the rest. She scaled the Mount Everest and unfurled the national flag just 9 months after getting selected by a rock climbing camp by the Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society. She achieved this feat at the age of 13 and became the youngest female to scale the world’s highest peak.
Priyanshi is a mathematical whiz who was the youngest to participate in the Mental Calculation World Cup in 2010. She bagged the first place in the competition and also became the only participant to achieve 100 percent accuracy in addition, multiplication and square root in all the five mental Calculation World Cups. That is not all; this genius holds a record in the Limca Book of World Records as well as the Guinness Book of World Records. She is famously known as the ‘Human Calculator”!
Sushma Verma and Ananya Verma
Sushma Verma is a genius who is known to be the youngest matriculate in India. She finished her Msc in Microbiology at the age of 15. She did not just finish, in fact she topped the class that had students who were 9 years older to her. She holds a record in the Limca Book of World Records for the same. She is known for her high IQ and topped an IQ test in Japan, outranking 35 other participant.
Her sister Ananya Verma is also a prodigy and is known for her intellect. She got admission into class 9 when she was 4 years old. She wowed everyone by reading Ramayana and Sundarakanda when she was just a year and a half old! Well, it sure seems like a family of geniuses.
Ayesha Aziz is the youngest female pilot in India and is the first female pilot from Kashmir. She graduated from the Bombay Flying Club in Mumbai after performing remarkably well. She graduated when she was 16 years old and received her student flying license thereafter. Ayesha faced financial struggles with determination and chased her dream to achieve what she had always dreamt of! She flew an MIG-29 fighter jet at the Russia’s Sokul airbase and currently pilots Cenna 152 and Cessna 172 aircrafts.
Necessity indeed became the mother of invention for this young innovator. Shalini Kumari designed an innovative walker for the physically challenged after her grandfather met with an accident and had to start using a walker. She noticed that her grandfather had difficulty in climbing stairs as the walking aid had stiff legs. This inspired her to design a walker with spring-loading, self-locking front legs and a foldable seat as well. She got the National Innovation Award for her design from DR APJ Adbul Kalam who was the President at that time.
Mohini Dey is a musical prodigy ad a well-known performer. Daughter of Sujoy Dey who is a renowned bass player, she took to the guitar at the tender age of 3. By the time she was 10 years old, she had become a performer and there has been no looking back for this young genius. She has worked with legends like Zakir Hussain and AR Rahman apart from collaborating with Grammy award-winner Mike Stern.
